A slightly belated Happy New Year to all you brides out there and I hope the new year has brought you all lots of wedding inspiration.

Wedding planning can be a very daunting experience, especially as there are so many beautiful venues and themes to be chosen from. This was a task that I was looking forward to getting stuck in to for my own wedding. My fiance Sam and I had an idea of the type of day that we wanted from the offset. We loved the idea of an outdoorsy wedding, something relaxed and informal, with lots of laughter and dancing. There are however lots of ways to achieve this. Do you go for a marquee or a barn? A country house with beautiful grounds or a village hall? In the end, and after looking at a few beautiful venues we decided to opt for a tipi wedding next summer (fingers crossed for sunshine!)

We are both so excited about this as it gives us complete control to make the day exactly what we want. We are lucky enough to be able to host the wedding in Sam’s dad’s field, making it a bit more personal. We looked at a number of companies that provide tipis and we decided on The Natural Tent Company (http://www.thenaturaltentcompany.com) who are based close to us in Harpenden. These guys have been fantastic, and include all the things that you would need for the tipi set up in their prices, including tables, benches, flooring and lighting (most of which were added extras with other companies)

One thing you have to be careful with when choosing  this option is getting the correct wedding insurance. We took out a policy with a department store, with added marquee cover, but we quickly realised that this wouldn’t be sufficient enough to insure the tipis correctly. This ended up being an expense that we hadn’t quite budgeted for, but it certainly worth the peace of mind it brings!

The next supplier we have booked is the wonderful Rebecca from Rebecca Wedding Photography (http://www.rebeccaweddingphotography.co.uk) Rebecca took the photos for my close friends Vicky and Will Ford’s wedding in October last year and did the most fantastic job. She was the only person that we considered using and I can’t wait to see her work her magic!

So this is as far as we’ve got for now, but we still have over a year to plan the rest……and find THE DRESS!!
